Most integrated electronic devices function normally up to 50 degrees Celcius.
If the device operates higher than 50 degrees Celcius for extended periods of time it's life expectancy will shorten.
If a cpu were continuously operated between 40 and 60 degrees Celcius it would probably last 4 to 5 years.
If a cpu continuously operated between 20 and 40 degrees Celcius it would probably last more than 50 years.
So how long do you want to keep your processor?

Just because higher clocked cpu's run hot does not make it normal. It means they require an alternate means of cooling.
In less than a year AMD and Intel will be manufacturing their cpu's on 0.13 micron process. If you take a 0.18 micron cpu running at 50 degrees and manufacture it at 0.13 micron operating at a lower core voltage it will probably run around 30 degrees.
So my point remains the same. Integrated electronic devices function within specification up to 50 degrees Celcius.

Runs at 47 at 800MHz
Probably 60 to 65 degrees at 1000MHz using your exsisting cpu cooler. If you leave the case open and have a 18" fan blowing on the motherboard probably get the temp down to 50 degrees.
Can you afford a water cooling set up? Beats the hell out of me where you can get the cpu cooling block. The rest of the parts can be picked up at a computer store and an auto parts store.

I'm going to upgrade my CPU very soon (by Christmas) and I will my CPU (this one) run fine and stable at 65 degrees? (AMD says 75 is the max)I definately don't want to burn it! i can sell it! I have FOP38 fan, I use a huge heatsink and a small, tiny fan (FOP38's heatsink, but the fan scres the hell out of me, I don't even hear the speakers, too loud) that does a good job, when I o'clocked the CPU to 900Mhz - temp went up to 55 degrees, I have Antec case that provides AWESOME cooling for mobo and other parts.
also a note, at 800Mhz the CPU operates starts operating at 29 degrees and goes as high as 33, but if I'll plat Quake3 for 3 hours it goes to 47 degrees, and at 900Mhz it starts operating at 39 degrees and goes as far as 55 degrees
My buddy has a T-Bird 800 system which HAD a Thermaltake Volcanno II on it and @ 800MHz it was idle at about 41-42 degrees Celcious....I Right away afetr seeign those wonderful temps. Overclocked it to 1GHz with 1.825 VCore setting on an Asus A7V Mobo. and got idle temps of 44-46 degrees celcious.....that sucker wouldnt go past 52 degrees celcious on any kind of heavy load...3D Games....anything...
about 3 or 4 days ago now we upgraded the cooler to a Thermaltake Volcanno 6 Cu. (copper) and that sucker @ 1GHz now runs at temps of 43-44 degrees celcious idle....and wont go past 50 degrees celcious on high loads......
souns liek you live in a REALLY HOT environment.....or your cooling just doesnt like to work for some reason....
