I got the 256 mb one...but when I format and delete all the songs and check the properties of the drive, it says 243.3 MB!!

where has the other additional 13mb gone?

Flash memory is just like hard drives, you don't get all the space. Some space is taken up by the filesystem and various other things. That space sounds about right to me.
