No sound from built in speakers

inspiron 1420 only sound through head phones not built in speakers.

You have no sound even when you unplug the headphones? And the speakers are not muted in the system tray sound icon?

If you right click the system tray sound icon and select playback devices, are your speakers enabled? If they don't even show up there, right click on the white area in the box and select show disabled devices, then enable them.
