How much data do you have to store?
Would you be using it for storage or as a backup drive with a backup program?

Hard drives have come back down in price from a year ago and you can never have too much drive space for a good portion of people.

P.S. Also, you never want to fill-up your hard drive due to performance issues that that causes.

Don't worry, you can create partition as big as any drive you will buy. The only thing to do, if you want a partition larger than 2TB is to use GPT instead of MBR. Then format it with NTFS as usual and that's it.
