RAM management

Hello,
i have seen that my 24 gigs of memory are never fully used... it never goes over 6 gig, even with multiple ram consuming apps like photoshop after effects and multiple projects open at the same time... How do I unleash all my ram capabilities? Is windows blocking them?

In Photoshop you can check to see how much RAM is being used by:
1. click on Edit
2. click on Preferences
3. click on Performance
There is a slider that will allow you to adjust how much RAM is available for use by Photoshop.
To change the settings in After Effects:
1. click on Edit
2. click on Preferences
3. click on General
4. click on Memory & Multiprocessing
You can change the amount of RAM reserved for other applications.
How much RAM is actually used depends on the complexity of the project. For example working with a RAW file in Photoshop will require more RAM than editing a simple JPEG image. The number of layers and effects you use will affect RAM usage.
