I'm building an AMD machine and the case that I bought for it has a 300w Intel approved power supply. The manual for the 1.4ghz processor I bought sternly states to use ONLY AMD certified power supplies. Anyone know if this is really a big deal? The last I want to do is plucg this thing in and fry my mainboard and cpu.

Thanks in advance

Try it. If the power supply is inadequate, chances are your system will re-boot on it's own. I use only a 235 watt sparkle power supply with my athlon 1.33, but for some reason it works fine and keeps my system 4-6 degrees cooler than any other ps I've tried.

Check AMD's web site. Just cuz it says P4 ready does NOT mean that it isnt AMD certified. In any case chances are if it gives a clean power supply there would not be a problem anyway. I have 2 300 wat supplies from 2 vendors and never checked (cuz I already had em, if I got new I would =) they both work fine.
