First connect the the Phone to PC with the data cable, choose mass storage
The phone will appear as a external disk in the removable disk section of my computer.
It should work out for file transfers.

Or you can download Samsung Kies and install it
Connect the phone
The software will recognize it.

Using the software you can do a lot more than just file transfer.

If you have a external memory card, than you can buy a cheap card reader and insert the memory card in to it and transfer your files with it.

open command prompt as administrator, type sfc /scannow
your windows should load drivers for that automatically -as it isn't your driver catalogue might be corrupted.

see if that fixes the issue
