There are two main issues you could be having with the T5:
1) It runs OS 5.x, and some of your old software may not be
compatible with OS 5.x. (Often this can be fixed by updating
to newer versions of the software, but not always.)
2) It has a new thing called the DBCache, which only exists
on the T5 and the Treo 650 (and no other Palm devices),
which allows it to store things in flash instead of RAM,
and this can cause problems that include crashes. And
it has a few other minor crashing problems.
So, without more information, it's not really possible to make
a recommendation since your problems could be due to #1 or #2
or some combination.
Anyway, all devices that Palm sells (with the exception of the
Tungsten W, if they are still selling that -- which is not a
device you want!) run OS 5.x, so if you buy a new device, you
will have to go with a 5.x device. The good news is that 5.x
is perfectly stable on basically all devices except the T5
and the Treo 650.
