After doing some research I think I can upgrade my Celeron 400MHz to PIII 450MHz. How much speed can I expect from my current motherboard?

Thanks

i didnt know the p3 had a 450 version... thought they started at 500.

anyway... going from a celleron to a full pentium (2 or 3) will give you a significant boost, due to the increased cache size and faster systembus/mem speed.

however what you have cant really go much further. personally i would be looking at a new motherboard/processor solution.

P-III started at 450, and there were 350 MHz engineering samples.

if you can upgrade to Pentium-III 450, you can also upgrade it to a P-III 600 or 700 slot 1. remember slot processors are hard to get today, and so are PPGA processors that will sit in slotkets.

but new board + cpu sloution remains on top!

Wrong, not all motherboard support Coppermine processors, many only support the Katmai core because of voltage differences. The Katmai ended at 600. The Coppermine begins at 500. So they overlap.
