All you need is a Compact Flash USB 2.0 card reader, copy/paste to your HDD from the Flash Card which will come up in My Computer with its own drive letter, and then copy/paste from the HDD to each individual Flash Card you have to write to, just make sure you use the remove safely now feature that automatically comes with XP and 2K before removing each card.

If it was in a camera and you still have the USB cable, use it to transfer the data rather than to have to purchase a USB 2.0 reader.

Though I'm a tad surprised you're asking us how to copy a disk's content...

I just load it into my monitor, copy to hard drive, and treat it like a regular disk.

I reccommended the Reader, just in case he had an older camera, my camera older USB 1.0 takes forever to transfer data, my wifes camera USB 2.0 transfers extremely fast, it can be done with a camera though you're definitely right about that. Hows things with you? :)

These flash cards are in our 6980's. They have windows 98 loaded on them and burn up after so many uses. It costs us $1600 to have them replaced. I not sure if just copying the files will work, or if I need to image it somehow. I'll try a file copy at first.

Maybe some imaging software can do it, I dont see no reason. You could try DiskImage/ghost/etc

You're working with a thin client, right?

The CF card you have plugs into something similiar to and IDE controller on a PC, right?

Whom ever makes the thin client (or dumb terminal) should also have an application out there to allow you to pull the an image of the CF and then you can reload via network or drive mapping.

They don't sell the application to copy the CF. You either send it in for warranty work, or replace it. We have quite a few that i'm sure it's just the CF card that's dead. I'll look and see if PQmagic or ghost can't create an image of a CF card. Thanks for the advice.

Look for some data forensic tools, there are some that will image the compact flash without making any changes to it what so ever.

Yeah you're right man, those old USB camera cables are freakin' slow. I have to live with mine taking a while for a 128MB card to finish. I can't even imagine once I get a 512MB card and I devour it, what kind of time it'll take. My printer's CF slot is stinkin' slow too, so that doesn't help either. :frown:

Anyways, that aside, my life's gotten a lot of new stuff added to it, like a car and a cell phone. The latter's a smartphone so I get to actually play freakin' Doom II on a Nokia! Amazing what mobile technology can do these days.

I was blown away at the speed of my USB 2.0 flash card reader, my Polaroid camera took about 40min to transfer 128mb, it was a time consuming pain, same 128mb on the flash reader maybe 2 min if that much, major difference before I got my reader I was getting reluctant to take pictures because of the time involved to transfer them, and held off getting a 512mb flash because I thought it would take forever to download, thats why I reccommended the reader in the first place.

Hey just don't be playing Doom while you're driving.

Saw a guy the other day driving a sport bike Vic, he didn't have a helment on, short pants, T shirt, sandals, talking on a cellphone using his right hand, [Stupid attire to be riding a Sport Bike in the first place] he came to an intersection and had to stop, was going to stop still talking on the cellphone, and the bike leaned to the right while stopping, so he had to put down his right foot, [thats the side the footbrake is on], the bike had not come to a complete stop yet.

Later Dude! Ry

Yeah I know what you mean by inattentive drivers with cell phones, it's just plain annoying. When someone calls me while I'm driving, I usually press the close button to cut the call or answer quickly by telling the person I can't talk right now, I'm drivin'. I know my weaknesses with multitasking, so I'm doing my part on preventing loss of attention on the wheel due to cell phones.
