Hi, my new Win XP won't play any of my old games. Dos mostly. I tried extra HD and dual rebooting. No good.
I decided to buy a new computer (deals to good to pass up)
but replace with Win 98 and go from there.
This would be a new 1.7 Celeron system chipset.
Do you think it would work?
It will work with your suggested PC specs plus higher.
I've got a lot of older games, some recent, that will not run on WinXP.
My solution was to have my new and higher spec PC (Intel D845PE BT2 Mainboard with P4 2.4 Ghz CPU, etc) fitted with Win98SE OS.
This way you can play all/most games without any of the XP troubles.
Don't worry about support for Win98/SE ending mid 03, as WinME drivers work with 98/SE-
re: Toms Hardware test/operation article about keeping Win98/SE operational and up todate after mid 03. Using Toms Hardware's method(there's plenty of others) you can keep Win98/SE running for years(at least five).
