Who else here is getting this game at release? Curious to know if we'll have any kind of multiplayer going on with the tom'shardware community-) Unfortunately my opportunities for multi are limited as i can only do that when i take my pc to a friends house every few fridays. Specs say that you can only have a max of 2 people in multiplay on a 56k modem and i connect at 28.8 on my 56k modem *cringe*.

Have played some multiplayer and single player at this point. Multi works great with at least 8 people as long as i don't host=) Good net code, modem is not debilitating for NWN, yea!
If any of ya'll are interested in getting on with a multiplayer group for NWN send me a PM.

Been playing mostly multiplayer, only into the second district in chapter 1 of single player...seems a bit generic so far...does single player pick up after chapter 1 or something? Anyone that far yet. Don't get me wrong, its great as it is, I just find multiplayer so much MORE exciting so far-) Specially with all the custom modules going on.

lol. Place this game shines is definitely multiplayer. A well made module in multiplayer can be a blast, unfortunately the only well made ones at this point are extremely small.
I've played on one HUGE one but it was like a hollow shell. I can imagine playing the campain in multi being alot more fun.

If you mean a demo...there isnt one...if you mean an illegal copy...multiplay requires a unique cd key. Unfortunately there's alot of seriously messed up people out there so don't even think about using this game on a cable or dsl connection without a firewall or you can kiss your cd key goodbye.

I read the thread(when it was 12 pages)about the multi-CD key.It starts out with this guy crying about not being able to play on-line becouse of the 8 users of his cd key.Well the war starts with the secure people saying its the end users falt and the nonsecure people saying......well something different. The moderator has his say and even makes fun of those that haven't done what they should....its a GREAT flame thread and if i could cut and paste I would add it here. Somebody help me here!
It's on the NWN's official forum....in the end justice is served!!!

Just installed NWN, everything went fine.
The splash screen came up offering me some choices, only looked at one off them: PLAY.
Pressed play and another splashscreen came up...after a few seconds it disappears.
Soon I will play NWN I though happily.
The seconds pass...Well, that´s ok...it might take some time I thought.
More seconds..now I am starting to wonder if something is wrong.
Even more seconds...nothing has happened and I realize that somehting is wrong.
I don´t know what is wrong, but the thing is that NWN refuse to load. very disappointing.
Oh well, I guess that´s what I deserve for downloading some .bin files...I better go buy it instead.
Or...

wake up man... you sound like the hear/see/speak no evil monkeys. many many many ppl download games. right or wrong who cares. no one is promoting "warez". so please dont turn this thread into an ethics battle. im not ashamed to admit i download games. if its good enough to buy i will buy it. if not then i have the satisfaction of knowing that i didnt waste my dough on a crappy game. some ppl are too poor to afford games so who is losing money if they download a game they dont have the funds to potentially purchase?
Whats is wrong with it? It is theft. But personally, I don't care if people download it to try it and they like it, buy it. If it is worth playing, you should buy a legit copy and support the company that made the game. (Unless its microsoft  )

I will say that I have gone out and actually purchased games that I have enjoyed after downloading. NOLF, JKII, Morrowind, Halflife, Dungeon Siege, Serious II, and a few more. I will never buy into the hype of a game and get burned again. Demo's do not give a accurate description of what the game will be like. Plain and simple. RTCW was soooooo dissapointing and didn't turn out to be the game that it claimed to be. Plus why charge so much for the game? Reasearch and development my ass. They were still using nothing more than a modified quake3 engine. Most of the missions were nothing more than a NOLF ripoff. Civ3 was horrible, there is no reason for the AI to take that long on a 1.33Ghz machine (Those that have played it will understand). What's the deal with these $60 games now? it's just ridiculous that three months later we're supposed to buy a $30-35 dollar expansion pack which is nothing more than a few new maps and maybe 1-2 charaters that were halfway finished but couldn't make it to the final game do to time constraints. So they just finish them on up and jack your for another $30. YEAAAAHH! Half the time they dont even work properly out the box. I understand the patching is part of computing and I dont mind it but some games are pathetically buggy. Anyone here not encountered a bug in GTA3? I remember that you couldn't even install PoR on anything but you C
rive when it was first released. How many people want to put a 1 gig game installation on thier C: drive? The problem is that you cannot take software back, so if you buy sh1t your stuck with it. End of story there goes your $50 down the drain. So yes I download the fuk out of games. Half the damn time before they are even released, and I let all my friends know if it sucks or not and whether to save thier money.
Well back to the topic. Has anyone here started multiplayer yet. I'm too lazy but how does the character vault thing work exactly? And are there alot of people up and running games right now? How are the third edition rules compared to the other Baldurs Gate series. (Hopefully they are better than Pool of Radiance which was another shitty buggy game, I never even bothered to finish)
Hmm, I'm tired and buzzed and coming off a late night, I'll try and remind myself to read this in the morning.

Allright, I´ve been playing NWN for a couple of days now and it´s a good game.
But it is one thing that bugs me.
Your party members are retards.
You can´t control them or anything, they just charge into battle and gets chopped down.
You tell them to stay away from yourself, but do they? no.
I miss the control you had over party members in Bg2.
*sob*

I actually prefer controlling only one character. Makes the game progress faster when you are not micromanaging a whole party. They only thing that makes me mad is my henchmen always has problems getting to the chest I am trying to open. It is usually faster if i bash it open myself.

Yes it would be nice to control only one party member.
But the thing is, I still think that they are retards.
If I tell them to use ranged weapons and a monster attacks them in melee, they still use their ranged weapons.
wtf, switch to sword, flail, cucumber or whatever...defend yourself for crying out loud...not a silly bow in melee, you know that!
And btw, I kind of liked being able to control every part member...
Well, there were some downsides, like adding arrows, bolts and other things...but besides that...It was good.

They are lovely. SOF2 works just fine on the net with a keygen and so will NWN cos i havent had a game that did not work yet! Anyways NWN is a cool game and I will be getting it tomorrow.

I just thought I'd chime in on this game. It's awesome. The only thing I don't like is that they've taken away from some of the strategy of DnD. In DnD, if you cast improved invisibility on yourself, or the enemy does on themselves, you better damn well have a scroll of see invisibility handy. I miss that. I don't like how they cop out on the 50% conceilment. If I move and I'm invisible, then they shouldn't be able to see me.
I wish I had a new graphics card though. My GeForce2 Pro is dying with this game.
Just hit part 2 with a Level 8 Wizard.
What I do like is that the game isn't too linear. If you can't beat a guy, then you just have to wait until you can. You don't just charge through the game like in Dungeon Seige II.

As far as warez? Get real! I used to buy every game, only to find that half of them sucked. You can't judge a game by a demo or the box. Word of mouth is ok, but people have different tastes. When they stopped allowing you to return a crappy game I moved onto Costco. Unfortionately they don't carry every game so I'd much rather download a game before committing my cash to a bad game.

i think warez versions are demo versions. I mean if I download teh warez version and it keeps my interest for more than two weeks then I'll buy it. There's nothing more that I hate thans spending $50 for a game and then playing it for 2 hours and then finding out it really sucks. Bah.. I just keep using warez as my demo's. Like I said if the game is cool I'll buy it. I don't mind supporting companies that put out good games, although I don't feel I should support companies that put out crappy games.
