Corrupt hard drive

Hello,
my hard drive was corrupt and I got a new one. Unfortunately I couldnt find my recovery disk and borrowed one from someone for Windows 7. Now my computer is telling me the disk was not meant to create but to update and I need to enter a new product number. Can someone help me?

    You are trying to fresh install the operating system with the wrong product.
    You need the full install version, not the update version. You need a different disk to install it from scratch.
  3. Like the others have said, you need your original installation disc, or go online and burn the .iso yourself from a different computer. Both will work, but make sure you still have your product key.
  4. You can use the upgrade cd to do a clean install, in the end you would have to have your windows full version key (not the upgrade cd key).
