I´ve got a 440bx motherboard, but I´m not sure whether it supports a multiplier up to 10 (celeron 1ghz), or if i could upgrade it at all (cant find any bios upgrade).
It´s an Acer V66XA.
Can i run the multiplier all the way up to 10 without any upgrade? Or can i do it at all?
Intel CPUs have their multiplier set internally so you dont need any jumper settings. you do need a BIOS to identify the CPU correctly else it will either show some wrong value or refuse to boot.
Unfortunately the fastest Celeron you could use with a BX board is 533 MHz, later ones come in FCPGA package and need lower voltage than the PPGA ones. if you have a Slot BX board you can use a powerleap adapter from http://www.friendtech.com, they also make socket FCPGA to PPGA convertors by changing the voltages on the middle board. again, you cant go past 1.1 GHz Celeron even if you are succesful at 1.1 GHz value since now Celron 1.2 GHz has yet another core update and is based on Tualatin core, so its not just a voltage problem, some crucial signals have changed.
