If you simply wish to transfer pics to your PC's hard drive, buy a Card Reader. The driver for that is built in to Windows.

Connect the card reader to your PC's USB port.
Remove memory card from your camera.
Put memory card into appropriate slot on card reader.
A window should open.
Open the folder in that window.
There are the pics on your memory card.
Select pics and use copy/paste.

That is much easier than to risk dropping your camera whilst trying to connect it to your PC.
