On a Windows 7 (32-bit) system; used "Add a Printer" procedure to install a printer connected via USB -> Centronics adapter; accepted W7 recommended drivers; prints test page o.k. and works from MS Word and prints e-mail messages. So... shutdown normally and after next reboot nothing will print! The test page job goes into the print queue and eventually signals (!) error on the printer. Run Troubleshooter and it says failure due to print job in print queue -- says it is fixed -- print queued job is deleted. But is NOT fixed! Still nothing will print. The Print Spooler Startup type = Automatic. Stoping and restarting the Print Spooler has no effect. (The USB adapter remains connected to the same USB port.) If I go through the "Remove Device" routine, and reboot the system, and then do "Add a Printer" (reinstalling everything) then the printer works fine -- until rebooting.
?? How can I get Windows 7 to keep all the settings and properties of a working printer device through a normal system shutdown and restart??
