I have a user running Palm software on win XP Home. He and his wife have
separeate windows accounts but
right now access his palm stuff only from his account.
Basically the whole isntallation is a mess. When try to open the Palm
Desktop get
messages that contacts and calendar can't be accessed etc. At this point the
easiest thing is to
reinstall the whole thing from scratch in my opinion.

So here is what im planning to do:
1. Backup the JohnS and JaneS folders from Palm directory somewhere else on
the drive.
2. Uninstalling Palm completely and even deleting the palm folder form
Program Files.
3. Reinstalling Palm for JohnS account and then reinstalling Palm in JaneS
account so that they now have separate
installations.
4. Now, how do I add the folder back to the palm folder? Do I just copy and
paste them back? Or would it be better
to resynch from Palm to the laptop?

I'm pretty new to palmtops so please excuse my ingorance..

Thank You

Couple of major stumbling blocks;

When uninstalling the Windows registry sometimes does not get erased and
screws up the re-install, so I always manually delete the registry
entries.

The REGEDIT part is: Go to Start -> Run -> REGEDIT Back up the registry
just in case! (Registry menu->Export) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER ->
Software -> U.S Robotics folder Delete folder called Pilot Desktop Then
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software Delete folder called Palm Computing
Close the Registry Editor

Using XP, each user must have Admin privledges assigned to them, then be
logged in as the current user. Install for that user only, and do at
least one Hotsync to finish writing the registry, then you can logout
the user and reduce the Admin status to normal user.

Windows Autoswitcher does not work with Palm software, each user MUST
logout before the next user can login.

After the install, moving the backup Username folder to the new
installation is suposed to work. If it does not go into the backup
username folder and copy it's contence to the new Username folder.
