Hi I was making a book I download from Project Gutenberg into a pdb
file so I can have it on my palm. But the one thing that I would like
to know is how can I put chapters into it. I'm a linux user and KDE
comes with a program called KpalmDOC that converts text into pdb files.
Does anyone know of a linux app that I can use to add chapters or is
there a way I can hand edit the file to add them?

Thanks
David

Have a look at http://www.plkr.org/ may suit your needs.

You are supposed to be able to add them to the "source" text file and the
pdb maker puts them in.

Like this from Aportis' site:
Q: How do I put bookmarks in a text file before converting to AportisDoc format?
A: Choose an inconspicuous search string; for example, two consecutive
spaces. Insert these search string characters throughout the file wherever
you want to create a bookmark. Be sure to include them at the end of the
file, surrounded by < and >. Convert the file as usual. Install on your
PalmPilot. The first time AportisDoc reads the file, it will search
through the file, creating a mark at each occurrence of the string. It
will assign a name to each bookmark based on the 15 or so characters that
follow the search string.

You can use this method to create chapter bookmarks.

I've been using the free DropBook program
(http://www.palmdigitalmedia.com/dropbook) and its markup language is easy
to embed in your .TXT file (http://www.palmdigitalmedia.com/dropbook/pml). I
have a 12-year diary that I make chapter headings for each month.
