It will all depend on make and model of processor. Also what, if any, options your motherboard/bios have and how they are set. Now please delete this post before AMDMELTDOWN and his chums turn it into a flame war. That is if you are not he.

if no thermal protection is foreseen, it will:
-crash the OS
-lock up / freeze
-or reboot
