250W PSU is not enough.
Look for, at least, 300.

Yeah, 250 watts is not near enough to keep it stable.

 Have you ever tried cooking an egg on your HSF? Tasty.

I have the same problem with that MOBO. I have an 850 Duron with 1 GB RAM, 300 Watt PS. It freezes when copying large files or installing large apps like office 2k. I think it is a busmaster driver problem. I will work on it a little longer, but will probably return board. Had bad luck with VIA chipsets before.

A. get a DECENT PSU, not just a 300W one... lots of crappy 300W psu's exist.

did you install the Via 4in1 drivers?

Is that a Northwoody in your pocket or are you just eXPited to see me?

I also had a prob with this board- did a system for a friend and it locked up all the time, swapped out cpu's ram, even put in my enermax psu, POS mobo, went back to the shop.

hey, does your enermax really kick out air from the back? man my case temps can get high 30's and maybe 40's. and it still just does nothing cept trickle the air out. i know this wasn't how it was performing when i first got it. think i'm gonna get it replaced.

yes and no.
when the PC is cool, just started or a cool room, the bottom fan speed rarely gets above 1700rpm and the rear output is minimal, both in terms of volume and the feeling of heat.

get a hot day though, the bottom fan gets up to 2500rpm and the rear output gets substantial... proly equivalent to a low/med flow quiet 80mm fan...
but no, not near the sheer volume my overrated 3200rpm 80mm thermaltakes do.

wouldnt use the PSU as the primary heat venting device. but is a good secondary one.
silent compared to the thermaltake 80mm casefan too.

Is that a Northwoody in your pocket or are you just eXPited to see me?

oh... btw...
cpu AND casetemps can be mobo specific.

when i switched from asus to iwill, my CPU read 8C less on average, and also my mobo is reading some 3-5C cooler too.

mobo temps now are around +4C higher than room ambient.

if your worried about casetemps, get a digital thermometer and stick it in your case.
