I have a LG monitor (Flatron W1954TQ) and I have bought a DVI-D to HDMI cable to connect my Xbox to my monitor. However when I plug it in and turn it on (with or without a game in) the screen remains blank. I have tried pressing all the buttons on my monitor and nothing works. Do I need another cable or do I need to edit the settings on my xbox itself?

Any help much appreciated

One thing is if you can check the cable on somthing else, if you can when turning on the xbox i think you have to hold the power button in for 10 sec plus, this should reset the display settings to default, i'll bet what you had your xbox plugged into last had a refresh rate that you new monitor cant do

You will have to reset you display setting, had to do that on my origianl 360,

Remove any discs from the disc tray.
Turn the console off.
Turn the console on. Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn the console on by using the Xbox Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left quadrant light illuminated.
As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time.
The Xbox Dashboard resets the display settings to the default settings, and then automatically restarts the console.

Make sure that the settings in your xbox console setting are set to HD-TV. If they aren't then it won't work!
