i've got a bcm vp1541 mobo with a amd k6/2 366 cpu 64 mb ram 66 mhz i upgraded the ram to 128 mb pc100 i i switched the fsb to 100mhz took out the old 64 mb 66 mhz jumped out the board drop 366 cpu to 350 mhz i think it was overclocked alot more stable now with lastest bios up date i can upgrade to amd k6/2 550 or amd k/6 3 but the k6/3 is only offered in 450 mhz will the onboard L2 512 cache make it worth droping 100 mhz in speed which would be better does anyone know? all comments welcome

The answer is an "it depends on your app"...
Considering that 450 K6-IIIs were never really common, they are quite expensive. If you get one for cheap, it may be worth it.
For very simple progs (word processing, videos and stuff) the high frequency will pay off. For some games and database, image filters, the on-die L2 cache works wonders.
Also depends a little on your board - how much on board cache do you have? 512 kb or 1 Mb?

Overclocking K6-III 450s seems to be very difficult, the best I ever saw was one being bumped up to 475 MHz.

The biggest problem is that K6-2s are often sold for prices not too far away from a cheap Duron. That s*cks.
