Keep the comments civilized, guys. Raystonn, Fatburger, and the other members who know a lot about this stuff, this should be somewhat more interesting to you than to the masses.

 Have you ever tried cooking an egg on your HSF? Tasty.

looks promising.. very promising. Maybe not as revolutionary as many might have hoped for, but nevertheless from what I read, I looks like a *very* intelligent and elegant solution. If they can keep the schedule, it is really something to look forward to.

The real problem is going to be OEM support however. Hammer looks like it will really shine in 2-4 way servers, where its HT architecture should be more than competetive with Xeons (in fact, its more likely to be in the Power4 league by then); 64 bit support may also help here. But who is going to build AMD based 4 way servers ? As good as the current Athlon MP may be, I have yet to see a first workstation or server from any reputable OEM. Thats real sad. In fact, in all the companies I have come, I have yet to see *any* T-bird / XP /MP system. I have seen some with cheap Durons, some with old K6's.. but no Athlons, let alone servers.. I hope it will change, but it wont overnight.

Anyway, here is another read:

especially the discussion below is good (as usually on Aces' forum).
