For many years I happily used a pentium3 500 system. One day I upgraded to an Athlon 1000. After I upgraded my system no longer booted. I did not know what was wrong. I looked at my processor and it had liquified and was smoking. Soon after the fire got to my carpet and eventually my entire room was burned to a crisp. I clearly blame the problem on the amd processor. I now use an intel p4 with rambus ram. I have more mhz and certified rambus memory. My system would scorch an amd in any benchmark.

I swear no money is changing hands here! These posts are sometimes so ludicrous that I wonder if they are actually being made by AMD fans in an attempt to make Intel fans look stupid...

By the way, when did caves get power outlets?

You mean to say that after you opened your case and saw your CPU smoking, you left your computer on and let the thing burn down your room?

...ooooookay...ingesting grain of salt...now.

Unfortunately, "more mhz" does not always equal better performance. As it turns out, an Athlon with a 300-400MHz handicap scorches a P4 in almost every benchmark. My own personal experience (and the experience of many others on this board) stands as testimony of the benchmark results.

Heh, I'm pretty sure you're not the one who perpetrated this one, Raystonn.

I actually did (still do?) have the nagging suspicion that it was an AMD fan posting this garbage to mock Intel zealots. I suppose we may never know...

I wouldn't be surprised if it was AMDMeltdown.

the fire started when the amd processor exploded

Hmmm, come to think of it, ja. Going by this guy's web page, he has similar hobbies and (if Melty is to be believed) is in a similar age group.

Exploded huh? Was that before or after it melted? You must have been really stressing it for it to have done that. What did you do overclock to a couple tera hertz and bump the core voltage to 120VAC?

By chance did any of that flying molten silicon bore a hole through your head?

lol, have to agree, ive just got myself an XP 1800+ and that runs perfect at 150 fsb (45-50 degrees full load) but as a whole, people who choose intels because they wont burn are idiots, sorry if that offends anyone but thats the way i see it...

if in doubt blame microsoft...

heh, you have to admit though: people who buy AMD CPU's because they don't burn are even bigger idiots.

Sorry I couldn't resist.

hmm, there's nothing wrong with a P4, but there's also nothing wrong with an Athlon. In fact, an Athlon XP 1800+ can beat a P4 2GHz in most benchmarks. Yes, the Athlon does overheat when the HSF isn't attached properly, but if you can't do that then you shouldn't be building a PC yourself in the first place!

i wasnt sure how to react to this when i read it..but..LOL
no AMD fan is that stupid..must be intel then!

Exploded?

Now, either you

A. Didn't attach a HS (Or attached it incorectly).
B. Didn't upgrade your motherboard and stuck a Slot A in a Slot 1.
C. Overclocked the hell out of if (Knowingly or not)
D. Used Gunpowder paste instead of silocon paste.
E. Some combo of the above
F. Are making this entire thing up.

I like D personaly, but am leaning towards F

Yeah, well that's better than what happened to me with my P4 system!

I overclocked it so high the operating frequency ripped a hole in the space time continuum, causing my entire house to be sucked into a vortex in some galaxy far, far away.

You got away with one little scorched room, but look at me! Unfortunately the insurance didn't cover acts of God, Feta Cheese, or P4 processors.

Now, you DO know that they require a different board....???

What utter garbage. He sees it burst into flame, so what does he do? LEAVES THE POWER ON UNTIL THE WHOLE COMPUTER IS IN FLAMES!

What a load of bullshit.

 Have you ever tried cooking an egg on your HSF? Tasty.

let me add even tho' that seemed like a troll post, he still is more productive with his P3 500 than all the AMDpuppies combined! all you pups do all day long is check your temp 1000x crossing your fingers while booting up and always trying to get a new hsf solution, every new mainboard that's comes out is looked at as a tweak not an upgrade for you guys.

add up all the time wasted, the new mobos, the new hsf, fans, Amd apprv ps's, downtime and what do you get? a dumb AMDpuppy with his tail between his legs lapping up all the AMD hype that stupid marketting dept spits out!

Wow, an exploding processor. I have never had one of those, but I have had several smoked Pentium systems. CPU all fried to a crisp, connecters and MBs shot, and all that other fun stuff. 1 PII, 2 PIIIs, and a P4. Never again will I go for an Intel CPU.

Come on baby, light my P4

Please scan the insurance claim form and and copy of the claim acceptance. Post it on the web somewhere. Report back here with the link. Then, and maybe then, we might actually consider to believe you.

Dang some people are dumb! How did it happen?? Did u put on the hs/f wrong?? Forget thermal paste?? So you're saying that if we put your 1.5ghz or whatever it is to a 1.5ghz axp your p4 would win?? My dog knows that more mhz doesn't equal more performance. If I said I could run a faster mile than you does that mean that I am also stronger than you??

Wow! - You must certainly have some sort of "talent".

Frying a P4, then I'm afraid you no longer have any alternatives, other than maybe an Intel 8088. If that turns out well, consider maybe even to opt for a turbo version.

If you're talking about my caning reference in regards to Intel_Inside, I was actually referring to caning IntelMeltdwn. After dhlucke smacked him around a bit, I figure a good solid caning couldn't hurt either.

If you're not talking about the above, then what exactly do you mean...?
