Voice Modem Echo

Anybody using Classic Phone Tools with the BCM Voice/Data/Fax modem that's
found a solution to the echo when using it as a speaker phone? Already
pitched the "stick on" piece of garbage provided by Dell for a mike for an
old Gateway mike on a stand but perhaps that's still not good enough?
Settings? Still have speakers on same table with mike and computer as I did
with old machine. Do I need different arrangement? I don't have a problem
hearing, but folks on the other end complain about echo.
