Windows 7 unusual problem

Hello,
i changed my username on windows 7, and then dint restart at tht moment. when i restarted my comp again, the username is the old one and its not accepting the old password... i tried to restore it to a previous date but apparently there is no such option on my comp.. plz tell me wat to do?? i have ubuntu installed on my comp too and thats working.. tell me if that can help in any way?

Did you try starting in safe mode? Press F8 while booting and the option will appear.

You should still be able to manually enter the new user name via switch user. To update the default login username often (from my experience with win7) requires a registry change.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\DefaultUserName

As with all registry changes, backup the registry key prior to making changes.
