Blue and yellow ball on explorer icons

Some of my icons in explorer have a blue and yellow beachball on the RH lower corner. What do they mean please?

  1. Sorry it's a shield not a ball.

  2. That means that those programs need Administrator privileges to run. If you have Administative privileges you should recive a confirmation prompt when running these programs.
  3. ..and if you don't have Administrative privileges but you do have UAC turned on (which is the default), then you'll be prompted for the Administrator password when you try to run those programs.
