To have a super fast machine, you should have a fast processor AND lots of memory.

Memory will make a more tangible difference though, as notebook HDDs are the main source of slow-down. Computer 'speed' is increased as the increased memory takes the load off the Hard Drive.

a 1.3ghz centrino and a 1.6ghz centrino seem to perform similarly. Memory is the best way to get more performance. it's cheaper and better on power than a faster cpu.
