I thought this was interesting and it has nothing to do with politics so I'm pretty sure RichPLS has not posted it yet.
This guy is paralysed from the neck down. These doctors/scientists create a computer chip named the 'Braingate' and attach it to the part of his brain that controls motor skills. They then link the chip to a computer and now the guy can surf the web, write email, play video games and remotely control appliances in his house through the chips connection to the computer. He has even learned to flip through channels, talk and move his head around all at the same time. The FDA approved the chip for use on four other patients.
I'm not sure whether to be amazed or really, really scared.

Edit: Sorry, I'm used to good message boards that do that automatically.

You could, of course, learn to make your links clickable ... I could do it for you, but I don't want to deny you the thrill of this learning curve ...

Hell, this little bastard just popped outta the womb yesterday. Gotta give 'im at least a few days to discover those hidden gems. Couple weeks, somethin'.
But I remember a someone.. maybe Ned, putting up a post that had a little 5 minute video on how to post in forums.. read the FAQ first, etc.
But then again, this guy also looks like someone's alter-ego on here using a different name to post..
Just my stupid thoughts though..
But on the chips, it's geared toward brain waves of people, so it's very limited on it's basis.. but things will change with that.
People have different brain waves and thinking, so a one for all wouldn't work.. it'd be like getting custom glasses, where each person is different.. but interesting yet.
Within 10 years this will be commonplace, and within 50 will be elective surgury to advance careers and social status.

Obviously "assimilated" translates to "stolen" in normal english.

There was a book out many years ago now I guess called FireFox, about a Russian Scientist and his daughter who created an interface between the pilots brain and a Stealthy looking Jet fighter of course called the FireFox.
A few years later Hollywood made a movie from the book and Clint Eastwood played the CIA spy that steals the FireFox. He had to think in Russian or the onboard computer would not carry out his thought instructions.
