I'm looking for some clarification about dual AMD MOBOs and systems. I wanted a dual 1800+, but have been told by two re-sellers that the 1800+, while it will work on a dual MOBO, will not be fully utilized. They say that only the 1.2 MP chips fully utilize the dual capabilities. On the other hand, the people at Xi Computers, Polywell, etc... say it's no problem with a dual 1800+ and the system WILL take advantage of both processors. Someone's lying... the question is... WHO?

Any support on this will be greatly appreciated. I'm sure even a dual 1.2 will rock compared to my PII-450!!!

XPs are not supported in SMP platforms, but may work. Many have gotten them to work, and many have failed.
With MPs, if it doesn't work, you can send them back and get new ones. With XPs, if they don't work, you're stuck with it.

You're better off purchasing the MP 1800 not the XP 1800+. This is a gauranteed MP chip from AMD and should work with an updated BIOS on most motherboards that are out today.
