I have a Palm Portable Keyboard ( the 'W' type 5-row keyboard which connects
directly to the Palm. I cannot get it to work with my T3. I have tried the
Palm Keyboard Driver 2.2 from the Palm website and also the Stowaway
Keyboard Driver 3.0 from the ThinkOutside website. Both of these appear to
be the latest drivers, but they don't work. Whenever I connect the T3, it
tries to hotsync and does not recognise the keyboard.
I hard reset my T3 and only loaded the keyboard driver. The same problem
occurred, so I know it is not a 3rd party application problem.
Can anyone help?
Mick

I have it working on mine, it is possible to make it work so it's
worth persevering with.

I am using version 1.9.2p which works fine. It's also labelled "Think
Outside Inc" so we are probably using the same driver, although there
is I think a distinction between the Palm Keybard and the Palm
Portable Keyboard. You use one in the title and the other in the body
of your post, so while it looks like you're using the right driver,
it's best to check.

If I remember correctly, this is the symptom of having loaded the
keyboard driver but not enabled it, run the "Keyboard" program on the
Palm and check that you have ticked the "Enable Driver" tickbox at the
bottom of the screen. I don't think it's enabled by default.

I own two T3s. I bought a second one recently cheap as a backup.
- I downloaded keyboard 192p and loaded it. The same problem occurred.
- I hard reset the palm and only loaded the keyboard driver. It did not
help.
- I then loaded the keyboard driver on my other T3 and it worked fine.
It seems that the problem is a hardware one. Both T3s are running the same
version of the operating system.

Yeah same here, mine broke so I bought a new one, and kept the old one
once it was repaired as a backup, given that the T5 is so rotten (no
sliding screen, daft connector, no voice memos) and the Tungsten E is
similarly rotten (daft connector change, and generally everything
useful is missing).

Nuts, that's a shame, how about sending it off for repair given that
you have a spare? If you go through what you've done on the phone to
the support guys I've usually found that they don't bother taking you
through the scripts they have and just give you an RMA number and you
send it off. That's in the UK, not sure where you are.

I may do that. Thanks for the advice.
Mick
PS I agree about the T5.

Hi there,

I had exactly the same problem with the driver that came with the
keyboard, but then I downloaded the latest driver from this website
(Palm 2.4 EFG.zip) and it is now working perfectly:
