as ive found out there is no single answer for you.
take this example: generall reccomened max temp is 65C.
On my old mobo (asus a7v133), my cpu was running at 53C full load.
On my new mobo (iwill kk266), the cpu temp is now being reported as 45C.
same cpu.
same hs.
same amount of thermal goop.
so which is correct?
is it now running 8C cooler? doubt it.
why? lots of things... position of thermal diode, distance from bottom of cpu, AIRFLOW under the core. and if the manufacturer is pessimestic or optamistic.
apparently asus boards generally read hotter than others.
so basically unless u put a temp probe right beside the core u wont really know.
the new athlon XP's hae internal diodes... hopefully that will remove the guesswork.
if your cpu works at full load for hours at a time, then its ok.
some people get 40-50C under full load. others have a 'hot' motherboard and use it in hot conditions... thus are stable at 60-70C.
but with everything... lower is always better
Is that a Northwoody in your pocket or are you just eXPited to see me?
