they also stock nice thermaltake & pabst fans, the alpha pal462, and rheostats

oh yeah...
at a swap meet ive seen both side by side.
the 462 is an absolute monster!
and the new version of it looks even more effective...
bloody heavy though, 760g i believe with fan.
and people wonder why that mc462 and the alpha get temps 5C lower than anything else around...

Yes, that's a very good thing. Another good point to remember. I guess you just better be real careful not to slip and smash the core...or anything else for that matter.
I have one, and installing it is a breeze, because you dont have these frigging tight clips to deal with. You just gently position it on the die, and tighten the four screws. Completely idiot proof, no way to "slip".

As mentioned above, it is bolted directly to your MB. on the Swiftech site there is a rather unbelievable crash test: they threw a system from the roof of a 1 story building on concrete.. several times.. the HSF was still properly attached (I guess everyting else was wasted). Have a look here:

yep... much nicer system than silly clips.
only way you could kill your cpu is if you just dropped in ontop the core or compeltely screwed in one screw at a time (dumbass thing to do)
given the average human intelligence im sure someone has done something stupid like that.
but for anybody with an iq above room temp it should be a piece of cake.

i did a post last week all about the diff's... but since i figure BOTH of us are too lazy to search here are the diffrences:
MC-462A. sanyo delki fan standard, some 260 smooth bore pins of .125" diameter. fan screws directly into copper core.
MCX-462 focused flow 68cfm delta as standard. option rheostat (3900rpm - 4900rpm). pins made helical, like the mcx-370 = more surface area and great air turbulence. pin diameter decreased to 0.093" and thus pin count increased to inexcess of 350 if i remember correctly and they say total surface area is increased 50%!. fan also screws into 4 brackets now, not the soft copper base.
as the mc-462A was approx equivalent to the alpha pal8045, the new one should blow both out the water
OEMs selling "High End"PCs with integrated video will be forced into Q3tournaments using a TNT2M64!
