54x cd rom
zip 100 and floppy
2 x IBM Deskstar 40Gb drives in RAID 0
inno3d Tornado geforce2MX400

play things like Max Payne, Severance, Q3, unreal tourney

Whats my next move hardware wise do you think...whats the 'weak' components.

athie 1.4 good
512ddr good, though u could get a bit better if u plan on overclocking
mobo good
cpu cooler good, though again there are better around
get a dvd drive to complement/replace the cd drive. i got a slot loading pioneer 106S, mostly for the slot aspect, but also for the faster more reliable cd dae ripping. (52x sony sucked)
could always get yourself a cd burner... replace that old slow zip drive. 12x or 16xburners are very affordable.

but for games definately the weak component is the graphics card. as a replacement i advise against the radeon 8500 at the moment due to unmature drivers...
the geforce3 ti-200 looks to be an excellent balance between speed & price...
or if your on a budget, get a geforce2pro.

Yes, your current graphics card is an extreme bottleneck. Get either the original GeForce 3 or the GeForce 3 Ti500.
