Have you being messing around with the battery or anything on the laptop for it to show this error message?

You'll see that with the wrong battery, a generic, non-OEM battery, a failed battery, or a failure in the charging circuitry. Take it to a shop for evaluation.

Ok, we've established that the charging circuit is alright. However, the other things I outlined are still in play. The easiest thing for you to do is swap in another battery. If the message goes away you're done. If not, then get it checked out at a shop.

Hi :)

I own a laptop repair company...

Sony like Dell are VERY particular about the battery being GENUINE...

IS IT a genuine Sony battery or a COPY battery ?

Also ..have you just changed it ?

All the best Brett :)

I had the same problem.

It seems that there is a startup task called ISB utility. It checks to see that you are using a SONY battery. Unfortunately, the check does not always work propoerly.
The utility is not needed, and can be deactivated in the startup list.
Run msconfig and uncheck it in the startup list.
