A got my friend to by a new Athlon C 1.2G machine a few
weeks ago.

Since its a 'C' core, the FSB is 133Mhz with a 9.0x multiplier.

They assembled the box at the store and it booted up
just fine at 1200 mhz. He takes it home and install
Win2K server on it and after a few days the he got a
BIOS error and it defaulted back to 900 mhz (100Mhz FSB).

I asked him to bring it work and he did. I took a look at
it and change the FSB back to 133Mhz and it worked just
fine. He told me that he pressed the reset button when he
got the BIOS error which on his mobo will reset the BIOS
back to the default configuration. So problem solved, I
figured. Anyway, he comes back a couple of days later and
says that it happened again! this time I'm a confused.
Its not a heat issue, his CPU temps are below 40C. The
only thing I can think of is maybe its a power supply issue.
He's got a generic 300W power supply and I told him that
maybe he should get an Enermax 350. He hasn't yet but
I would like to know if there are any other possible
explanations.

His System:
AMD 1.2G Athlon 266FSB
A7V133 Motherboard
512MB PC133
Asus 32MB GF2 MX Pure (v7100 I think)
SB Live! 5.1
40 GB HD (I think)
52x AOPEN CDROM
Some other stuff I can't remember

Intel Components, AMD Components... all made in Taiwan!

All 'C' Tbirds default to a 100MHz bus. If his mobo is setting back to default as easily as it sounds, either something was set up wrong, or it's the gayest motherboard ever made :)

If the A7V133 hangs on boot up it will default the FSB back to 100Mhz.

Most likely reason for this happening is that the settings are too aggressive, or the memory is not good enough quality to run at the settings given.

If the memory is rated cas3 @ 133, and it has been set to cas2 for example....
