Need advice about refurbished laptop

Hi,
I have just put in a new Disc drive and memory card into my Compaq Preario V5000 but it will not reboot itself. Am I doing something wrong?

Hello lobonz;

Was that new Disc drive a hard disc drive (HDD) or an optical disc drive (DVD/CD)?
Can you get into the BIOS (F2 key) and see if the HDD is recognized by the laptop?
Did you format the HDD and install an operating system (Windows) yet?
