I also need a modem not sure what is the best to get. Any advice? Keep in mind I don't need a monitor, printer, mouse, or keyboard. I am pretty sure all these parts are compatible but if not plz tell me. If I missed out on any major parts please tell me. Thanks.

Is there a way to get an Athlon XP instead? I think it's just a couple bucks more.

I have a good recommendation for a CD burner. A <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=5&manufactory=1336" target="_new">Lite-On 24x10x40 for $9 at Newegg.com</A>.

Everything else looks good to me. What do you use your computer for? Do you do a lot of gaming? I'm not sure how well that graphics card does, but I'm sure it's sufficient.

Alright...have fun!

It's actually $96 Retail, $93 OEM.

You might want to either get a DDR motherboard, or SDRAM.

That motherboard would still work, but I would recommend instead the ECS K7S5A

Either that or the the Iwill XP333, which is not yet avialable.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

At the risk of starting a flame war, I'll just say that some people on this forum cannot stand VIA in any way, shape, or form. Personally, I've never had a problem with any of their chipsets, and doubt that the vast majority of other users have either. I doubt you'll have any problems with the board you've chosen.

Well all I need now is a cd-rom and do I need a network card?

OK
A: crash how can you, king of stability, reccoment the ecs k75sa when so many poeple have gotten doa boards. The chipset is good but ecs sucks as a brand.
b: via southbridge issues only seem to occur with via northbridges, if the northbridge is not via then the southbridge bugs dont seem to bite so badly, if at all.
