THe inquierer has an article on this chip. It appears to be "available" in Malaysia. Since I cant acces the Russian website (http 406 "unacceptible"..), can anyone give me some news ? Is the E2K chip a reality ? How does it perform ? How come there is little info on it.. the most recent article are 1,5 year old !!!

From what I read, this chip is supposed to be 3 to 6 times faster than an Itanium, while being x86 compatible.

Indeed.. and I'd even say a hard to believe rumour.. From what I've read on the Elbrus Group site, I dont know what to think. On one hand, the english texts are terrible, absolutely unprofessional, and the content very vague. Doesnt really add to the credibility. On the other hand, if there is truth in their claims, about what they have delivered in the past (like super scalar cpu's as early as 1974), what they (might) have contributed to Sun, and to also to HP/intel and Transmeta.. thats pretty impressive.

So im just curious.. is this thing for real ? Do they have working silicon ? IS there any official announcement, press release, whatever ? Is this a credible company at all ? At least the people working for them seem to have quite a bit of credibility..

I think I read about this mysterious super CPU about 5 years ago. It was then said it could be produced by this time, given enough funding. If they have working silicon today, that would be very, very impressive (compare to intel/hp's Itanium which has been like 5 years overdue). If they can live up to their performance and compatibility claims, that would be even harder to believe.

too bad the inquierer doesnt have a link.. I'd order one right away, just to see... (I'll probably will have to design my own chipset and motherboard, but who cares ;-)

its available? they say it would take them at least two and a half years after they get the funds, which is about a year from now!

i suppose they are still looking for funding, it says all the paper work is ready, and a simulator is also ready and they say it works with all big applications. too vague! and yes, they say its not IA-64 compatible. so there is(?) a third 64 bit x86 platform!!!!

if its real, dont buy it - its brought out in haste, without much testing or validation.

i dont think the chip is available, must be a rumor.

Im still getting http 406.. At first I thought it was my firewall at work, that blocked any russian site or something, but I have the same at home :-( Anyway, is there a press release on their site about working silicon ? Or what do the roadmaps say ?
