Desktop icons want stay

Hello,
How do I get my icons to stay on desktop after logging in -i keep getting Script Error message /says Do u want to continue running scripts on this page?

  1. Open start menu, type in 'cmd', right click 'cmd.exe', select Run as administrator and finally type sfc /scannow and confirm with enter.

    Thanks a bunch...NOT! Now I have to find my WinXP Pro SP3 CD, install it and hope this message:
    "Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL Cache. Insert ...SP3 CD now."
    will go away, my icons will be where I put them, and no more s**t hits the fan.
    So, did you neglect to mention something, or is it just my plain bad luck?
