Why does it take so long for my game software to load on Windows 7

I have been attempting to load the expansion pack to Age Of Empires III the War Chiefs. It is a single disk and it has been installing for close to 30 minutes now. I am using an Intel I7 930 processor, 6 gb ram, 1 tera byte harddrive and Windows 7 64 bit. I don't get it, a new machine is supposed to run faster right? This is not the only game I have had this issue with. Does anyone have an answer?

I assume you are installing the game from the optical media in the package?

are you sure that the media you are using is not damaged
