Discharge CMOS?

When changing over a CPU (PIII GHz to 1100 Celly), do I need to cler CMOS? The mobo is already out of the old system, so the BIOS will be set for the old CPU.

Is there a button I can press instead?

Swithcing a PIII 100EB for a Celeron 1100? What kind of "upgrade" is that? The Celeron performs at LEAST 15% slower than a PIII at the same clock AND bus speed, but in this case the bus speed would be lower also!

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Who said anything about an upgrade?

I've upgraded my mobo on my main system and I'm left with a BX mobo. I have an 1100 celly to suit.

The old FSB was 133, mem CAS 2 133, AGP @ 89MHz etc etc.

The mem I'm using is generic PC-100, old AGP2X card.

I didn't want to stress out any of the components.

Anyway. I did the CMOS bit, it defaulted to 66MHz and I've started from there.

Hey, you really shouldn't need to do anything to get it going. The board will proably detect the new CPU and either make the changes automatically or use the lowest setings and prompt you to enter CMOS.
