I had this problem, too. Fortunately, it was still in warranty and
they fixed it (in 10 days) at no cost (well, they changed the unit,
actually)

I've had mine since September of last year. I couple of times it has locked
up and I had to do a hard reset to get it going again and reinstall all my
software.
My stylus was off one time and just went through the "Preferences" menu to
the Digitizer selection and re-did the setup for it. Now it's fine.
