Hello "helpdesk"!
I have a Compaq Presario 1800 Laptop with win2000.
Until recently everything worked grate, and in the Power management window there WAS "Hibernation" option.
Now it's gone with no apparent reason for it. I already checked everything I could: the computer IS ACPI compatible, and there is even a "hiberfil.sys" file in the C:\ root.
Checked the registry - all seems ok, but the option itself simply disappeared. Vanished. I tried to reinstall (update) windows, even selected the "ACPI" option with the "F5" menu... Didn't work. I REALLY need my laptop to hibernate, and for now reinstalling the OS is kinda unacceptable... I thought of changing the "computer" driver in the device manager to "standard PC", reboot, and then change it back to ACPI. At least it sounds logical, but I'm afraid that windows might not start up correctly after such brute tweaking...
Is there any way of reinstalling the ACPI
Any advice would be highly appreciated
