Hi all,

I bought a zire 31 palmone with palm OS 5.x.x
But i need to put a palm OS 4.x.x for a home-made application of my
company.
If someone's got an idea to help me !!!!

For information, the application that need palmOS 4 to work is made
for managing an automated chain via infra-red.

So i think there are 2 possibilities:
- Install palm OS4.x.x
- Emulate OS 4 on a OS5 (but if it existe it must support IR)

Thanks for all your answers

Vincent

If you've already tried the needed program on your Zire 31 and it
didn't work, then you're out of luck.

The Zire 31 uses an ARM-based processor. OS4 simply does not include
the code necessary to utilize the hardware.

Most OS4 software will utilize the Palm Application Compatibility
Environment (PACE) that is included with OS5. PACE allows programs
written for use on Dragonball processors to work on OS5 devices with
ARM-based processors.

So if your IR management program won't work on your Zire 31 as it is,
you're out of luck until someone updates the program you want to use.

besides that, the Zire's do not have flash ROM they have Masked ROM and
can not be up/down graded.
