Hello, After a vista update, laptop will not boot even into dos? the start screen 'Acer' appears, blue bar loads then screen goes black.Laptop will not boot to dos or safw mode anbackup failes as well? Any Ideas? thanks for reading - Paul

Do, you have a Vista Restore disc? It looks like one of the updates were damaged.

If you can get into start up repair, Windows might be able to locate the file that is damaged or missing and fix the issue...
If not, your going to need to boot using the restore disc.

Get into BIOS and set the CD/DVD drive as priority #1 in boot priorities...
Then, just restart the computer with the Recovery Disc inside...
