by now u should be all aware of my overclocking.
recently ive noticed something strange occuring at high overclock levels.
have an athlon 1200C 'axia' at 1473Mhz (147x10)
IT IS NOT FSB LIMITED (max fsb is 154)
Iwill KK266r-plus kt133a chipset.
Swiftech MCX-462 + delta @ 4000rpm (slow).
now heres the thing...
my PC can start normally with no problems then runs beautifuly, under full load, for hours at a time at 1473Mhz.
1473Mhz, 147 fsb & ram, 1.94v, 17C room, 23C mobo, 40C cpu.
however, should i do a reboot, upon reboot the monitor turns itself off completely, instead of going from green to amber(standby) and back to green for a second.
pressing reset doesnt do anything.
powering off then on also doesnt do anything, still the turned off monitor
if i turn of the power at the wall for 15 secons then back on, the monitor comes on, however i get a blank screen and the PC fails to boot.
but if i then leave it for 10-15 minutes and reboot, its back to normal, still at 1473Mhz, and boots fine.
it always happens at 10x147=1473mhz
and also at 10x146=1464mhz
and most of the time, but not always, at 10x145=1455mhz.
anything below 1450 boots and reboots fine.
can someone tell me why this is happening?
something to do with the CPU not getting quite enough juice if too warm & too high???
i find its kinda strange as the processor is extreemly stable otherwise, even running the nasty burn-in program TOAST.
on a final note, yesterday i decidied to find out how my highly overcocked PC handled high room temps.
closed the door to the study
put on an electric heater to high
ran toast
watched results.
at any temp toast gives temps that are 2-3C hotter than typical 'cure for cancer' full load.
i could get the room up to a very warm 27C, CPU 52C and it was still stable.
however at 53C it finally locked up...
which coincodentally was just about the same temp it died using the old heatsink a fop32-1.
so it seems that 52C seems to be my mystical CPU temp. higher=die!
any questions/answers for me???
Excuse me for a moment. I need to drive my ergonomic wheely chair over a sheet of bubble wrap!
