Hi Everyone,

I need to buy a PC for my brother on a very limited budget. It needs to be able to fit into the bottom of a 19" rack so it needs to be small form factor. It's primary function will be a web server (IIS on Windows 2008 server). He wants to spend around the £300 pound mark, to my mind memory and processor are going to be more important that HD size or graphics cards here.

Anyone have any advice on anything off the shelf that will fit the price and be small enough to sit in the bottom of a rack?

Thanks in advance.

Depends on the performance you need. If that's not an issue search for "Nettop" with AMD E-450 CPU. I'm not sure about the drivers for win server tough.

a £300 rack server, i don't think there is such a thing, second hand will be your best bet. Or use a micro PC or even a rasberry

Just to clarify, it doesn't need to have rack mountings, it just needs to be small enough that it will sit on the floor in the bottom of the rack.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
