Mobile Pentium II

I have a Dell Latitude CP model M233ST with a Mobile Pentium I, 233 Mhz CPU. The Parts Replacement Guide from Dell includes the CPi series. The CPi series us the Mobile Pentium II CPU in 266 and 300 Mhz speeds. Can I install the PII-266 or 300 in my laptop or would it require a mobo change?

TIA

It depends on how it's mounted. If it's soldered on, your out of luck. If it's Mobile Module Connector 1 (MMC1) you might find a 266 for it. If it's Mobile Module Connector 2 (MMC2), you can put a significantly faster processor on it. The fastest MMC2 processor I can locate right now is the PIII 650. MMC packages contain the chipset's northbridge and CPU on a daughter card, enabling the use of chips with higher bus speeds.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
