Compatibility prob Abit MotherBoard and AMD 950

I am attempting to build a 950 Athlon on a Abit K7A socket A
VIA KT133A motherboard. I was unable to get this motherboard to recongize a 40 Gb hard drive. I reset it to a 32Gb, So I could at least load Windows 98. I finally get the Cabs to the hard drive and I keep coming up with mutiple errors. They range from saying there is bad ram in the machine to the cd-rom is malfunctioning. Are there any know issues with this board and chip. Any suggestions would be Great. Thank You

Perhaps you have bad ram and a bad cd rom?
